“Mount Etna”
2022 | Mount Etna Field recording for PlayBack 2022 directed by Ryuichi Sakamoto - Dumb Type Installation
In September 2021, Ryuichi Sakamoto asked me to take part in a project in which he would use environmental sounds from 16 cities around the world. In the end, we chose Mount Etna to represent Italy, so as to have sounds that were more distinctive than those of a large city, which would have been similar to other metropolises around the world. His favourite sound among all those I sent was the sound of my footsteps on the volcanic sand, and he was very impressed by the images of the locations.
